Soak rice for 3 hours and grind to smooth paste. Grind coconut to smooth paste

Melt the jaggery with a cup of water. Add grounded rice and grounded coconut. Add cardamom powder. Mix well- 3
Add milk and mix well. Add 2 more cups of water and keep stirring while cooking to avoid burning. Cook for 30 minutes.- 4
Add ghee and and cook on medium flame till it gets thicker and raw smell goes off. Consistency should be like halwa so that it can be cut into pieces after cooling.- 5
Pour the cooked halondige to greased plates. Cut into pieces after cooling. Can be stored for 3 days without refrigerating.- 6
